Duration: 6 Days/ 5 nights (this is the minimum duration):
Machame route is varied and gradual
ascent taking 6 days minimum time to make it to Uhuru Peak (5895m)
from Machame gate and descent down to Mweka gate or Kidia gate
an alternative route.

Day 2 Machame Hut to Shira Hut.
Continue with your trek after having your breakfast following the
clear path up the steep rocky ridge, crossing the crest a few
times on the way to Shira there are
excellent views of the Shira plateau and the Pinnacles on its
southern edge. Overnight at Shira Hut 3840m.
Day 3: Shira Hut to Barranco Hut
10km,5-7hrs 110m ascent. After breakfast, continue ascent along a
sharp ridge giving a distinct high mountain feeling ,then onto the
moorland camp and by mid afternoon stay at Barranco Hut (3950m)
Day 4: Barranco Hut to Barafu Hut.
After breakfast either you can have a short walk of 2 hours
to Karanga valley for acclimatization and overnight there (for
those who going for 7 days/6 nights) or proceed with your trek to
Barafu Hut (4600m) where from the top of the Barranco wall you
will really get some truly excellent views of the main bulk of
KIBO up to your left.
Day 5
Barafu Hut to Uhuru Peak(5895m) . Plus descent Mweka Gate.
5km,6-7.5hrs,300m ascent + 12km 4.5-7hrs 2800m descent.
The trek start around midnight and be
at the summit (Uhuru Peak)5895m by the time of Sunrise. From the
peak retrace the path eastwards around the rim to get back to
Stella point and descent to Mweka Hut (3100m) for meals and
overnight.
Day 6: Mweka Hut to Mweka Gate. After
breakfast descent to mweka gate or Kidia an
altenative route where you meet a vehicle for transfer to the next
destination for meals and overnight
